March has been a whirlwind, full of fun and fresh ideas. The Northview team crafted a creative and engaging competition called #SpotSheldon that highlights NVIS’s short commute from 5 remarkably popular and engaging locations. This day of filming across Qatar caused me to reflect about what I enjoy about educational leadership and simultaneously, what I love about our host country.
Thinking outside of box is a critical tool for leaders, teachers, and students alike. This means approaching problems in new, progressive ways; conceptualizing problems differently; and understanding your position in relation to any situation in a way you had never thought of before. Building a new and innovative school, infused with an eco-curriculum at its core, has challenged me to think outside of the box and challenge the conventional methods of education. And boy, has it been fun! I have discovered a new spring to my step, as you can literally see in the #SpotSheldon video.
In the video production, the NVIS team visited drastically different venues, but all with its own unique charm and appeal. From iconic establishments bestowing knowledge to newly developed outdoor spaces, it made me appreciate how diverse and incredible Qatar truly is. We have amazing buildings conceived by talented architects, lush green spaces for families to enjoy and thriving creative, local businesses backed by brave entrepreneurs. What diversity for such a small and relatively young country! (Hint: if your curiosity has the best of you, check our social media for clues on all 5 locations).
I plan to take this positive energy and focus it with our founding team to build a fantastic curriculum that sparks students’ love for school and learning. Stay tuned for more updates on what we have planned.
