Noah Wins Three Golds at the Spring Swimming Cup 2026

Our Grade 10 swimmer Noah took gold in all three of his events at Aspire Dome, including the 200m butterfly.

We love hearing what our students get up to outside the classroom. Noah competed with his club, Vortex Aquatics, at the H2O Long Course Competition Spring Cup 2026, held at Aspire Dome on 5 and 6 June. He entered three events. He came home with three gold medals.

🥇 200m Butterfly
🥇 200m Breaststroke
🥇 50m Butterfly

The reason this is so impressive is that “long course” refers to a 50-metre pool, the kind used at the Olympics; with this length there are fewer turns and fewer opportunities to push off the wall, so the swimmers have to depend on their stamina and technique over longer distances. The 200 metre butterfly is generally regarded as one of the most difficult events in swimming since each stroke requires a great deal of power from the shoulders and core, and winning it requires years of training and a lot of early mornings.

We were told by Noah’s parents that his success is due to his dedication, perseverance and genuine love of the sport; they also nicely expressed their thanks to his teachers for the encouragement he gets at school and in turn we would like to return that gratitude. There is always a family behind each medal: one that drives down to the training sessions, waits by the pool and cheers more than anyone else – and this kind of support is evident.

Noah shows the same traits at school: concentration, resilience and the determination to carry on when things become difficult. These qualities are useful no matter what he’s doing, whether he’s trying to beat his personal best in the pool or working on a difficult problem in class.

Well done, Noah; we’re proud of you and can’t wait to see what happens next. It’s our belief that this won’t be the last gold medal that we get to write about.
